  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Anton-Bauer Dionic 90 communicate with Epic ?

Just voltage, on the ones I've used anyway. I think they start at about 14.5 and cut out around a bit under 12v. I change them out when they get to two bars on the battery itself, which is about 25%, or at around 12.5 volts, just to be sure if you have to wait around a while with the cam on. Maybe different firmware would allow for remaining time, but it's pretty easy with the monitor on the battery and the voltage on the screen.

I've just shot with 5 of them in China for a while. Sometimes I got a percentage level out of them for some strange reason. I'd say 98% of the time it's just voltage though! The Dionic HC 90's cut off at 11.5 Volt as far as I remember, so change em out at 12-12.5!

What else does a battery communicate besides the charge? What else should we consider? just wondering cause my choice for the battery system is the VF AB battery adapter with Dionic HC bricks..

Like David said, it's easiest to just monitor the dashes on the side of the battery. Best to be safe and swap them out when there are 2 dashes left.

Correct. They communicate the Voltage.. When you get to a dangerously low level, indicator will turn red as well.

Voltage indicator on the Red monitor is really accurate- I've grown to really like this feature. Easy to follow. Like Phil says above, when you get in the 12.0 - 12.3 range, time to start thinking about change. I've seen the voltage indicator in the 10.5 range before when I just had to keep rolling until the camera dies kinda thing. Battery seems to drop fast from 12.0 - 11.0, just FYI.

I use AB Dionic 90's on our (2) Epics- love them! The size/shape of this battery is the best I've found for this camera. Super compact and batteries have great runtime.

Now that you mention it, what is the average runtime you get out of a Dionic 90?

Just received my Dionic 90's and Twin charger - blown away by small lightweight charger, build quality of batteries and small size. Getting 90 mins out of them on the Epic.
