Hi,

I'm planning on getting some flight cases made up for our equipment. Can anyone tell me whether normal camera flight case foam will be OK, or is anti-static foam a necessity? It's something my case manufacturer will need to order in specially if so. Has anyone else done this? Can anyone from RED comment?

Thanks,

Chris

I have not yet had any trouble with my Red, or the myriad of HD and SD cameras I also own, with regular low- and medium-density foam in my A&J cases...
Hopefully the electronics in the Red One are isolated from the metal housing of the camera, which I also assume is the grounding element anyway. Otherwise, one light touch from your hand in the dry winter could be fatal!
Cheers,
Harry

When all possible, while transporting any type of electronics, such as Photo cameras, Cine cameras, video cameras, and such, as well as batteries, Drives, Lap tops, atc. it is in my opinion and experience always better to go with the anti-static dust particles free foam, example, the standard Pelican cases pick-n-pluck are not Dust particles free.

The reason you do want special Dust Particles Free foam is that is a pain to remove such minute dust particles, from your lenses, and or camera sensor.

And it does get in every were even if everything is well closed, and camera and lens cups are on.

I would love also to know where to find foam that does not make dust,
that would be a relief !

That would be coated Anti-static foam, which I'm actually in the process of designing with Pelican for a RED n' go type a case likely based on the popular 1610.

ciao

Is that the pink anti-static foam from Pelican?

By "RED n' go" do you mean it will fit a RED setup with rails and mounts installed?

It would be nice if it fit a RED with EVF, ET EVF mount, and 18" rails.
