  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Another taste...

... of EPIC X. The system is growing.

Hmmm.

Whereas the competition wastes 3 out of 4 pixels of their sensors with green and blue pixels in RGB-Bayer matrix, here you see the reply, the first camera with three perfect channels : RED-RED-RED :innocent:

Great Render....bring that thing to life!

Will the new Epic camera have the ability to play back clips form the DIT station via the wireless remote? Will meta data be passed to the wireless remote?

Helpful Data might include:

Camera temperature
Battery & media levels
Dropped frame counter
Sensor scale data
Frame rate
Iris & focus...If lens data is available..
Raw code setting

Print function for all data!

What's this?

(See attachment)

The text on the top reads "DUAL CF MODULE".

Nice one Jim, that's just the ticket.

While I'm (sort of) on the subject... Jim, we've seen glimpses of the data connections between modules, but how will the modules be physically connected? ie. will they be bolted together in some way? are all these renders omitting the connection mechanism?

... That's utterly amazing. I just finally hosed my shorts.

Thanks Jim

Another one ... well its time to design special technology RED underwear line Jim :)

Jim you know how to make my day.
I was already happy with the ability to upgrade the One's sensor to a Mysterium-X.
Then you said we could get full credit towards an Epic.
Then you came up with the Epic-X.
And now this!

I am more than ecstatic with today's news but curiosity makes me wonder what more could you possibly do to please One owners.
Thank you!

Hya Jim,

is there already an estimation to how much weight the epic will bring on the scales? Just wondering thinking about handling for unusual shots...

Is it me or does this look more like a Projector housing than a DVD type player?
Projectors are not terribly hard to make (hard to make well) and 4k LCD blanks are floating around these days soooo...
Projector talk must be at a all time low right now, so maybe it's a good time to start thinking about it again.

Granted there are 3, but still...

I think it is a very good idea to have more, although smaller, batteries: perhaps it is possible, for very long shoots, to switch only the dead battery with a charged one, and never have to stop the action. With such a system, one can go on filming forever.

Jim, is the choice of one couple of side panels not made of platinum like the others, deliberate? is it a final idea or only a preliminary rendering?
It would be beautiful to have the platinum sides not interrupted.
Not to compare styles of different companies of course, but I think the Porsche design approach in favour of total continuity - although, at the same time, here integrated with the idea of modularity - is proven to be one of the most loved and has lead to immortal icons.

Dual CF?

Dual CF?

I hope this dual CF model will gain a little more physical functionality (buttons that eject cards) and feedback (LED status indicator for which card is recording) putting it on par with the $5k HVX-200 rather than a $100 digital still camera. :innocent:

I can see a dual module thing getting horribly confusing in a production environment if the thing is as basic as the Red One's CF module.
