just now i am on the set a second 16Gb cf card cannot be detected from the computer. We are shooting a TVC and a whole scene is inside. Our first card is since a week at red for the same problem and no news no e mail from them. What is going on? We cannot have this stress everytime we shoot. Please red come back with an answer!

I see your RMA in the system, I will have tech support get you an update today.

Thanks for your answer. I would like to understand what can causes the problem. 2 of my CF Cards that worked normally fail in the same way. They cannot be detected by any computer. We used 3 different CF readers, our usual one is a star disc fw800 and we have another 2 USB ones. The card could not be recognized by the camera as well. When I tied to re-format it the message was something like: Your card is too slow.... etc. The problem is gentlemen that this miss function of the CF cards costs money to the production company and credibility to the RED Camera. It happened 2 times in a period of 3-4 weeks, with our new 16 GB Cards and the news travel fast within the industry people in this town. I don't dare to use my 2 CF cards that seem to work fine. I would like to find a way and exchange them with red for HD media as until now we never had a problem with them. I am sending a ticket to red to return the card and try to find a solution.

Hi Panos,

We are looking at the card you sent in to try and determine what happened. This type of analysis can take a week or more to do because we don't have a full picture or all the components involved (readers/cables, etc). In our forensic analysis, the usual suspects are usually faulty cables or card readers that can damage a card enough to compromise it's integrity. Once we look at your second card we'll have a better idea if the results match the first card which will help us narrow down the possible cause.

Can you also let us know the models of the three readers you're using?
I believe the FW800 one is the SanDisk model, correct?

Thanks,

Deanan

But Deanan..the strange thing. We almost didnt hear a thing about 8GB card, it seems that it happened more on 16Gb card.

Reduser reports are very different from the statistics we get through Red support.
