The new Switronix GP-TS-RED2 is a dual battery mount that will pass the battery status info from the RED bricks to the RED One camera. This plate differs from the original GP-TS-RED in that it is not an adapter that fits onto your current RED battery plate but is instead a replacement for it, bolting directly to the cradle or Quickplate (or 3rd party plates such as the Element Technica) with a Lemo cable to plug into the camera.

The Switronix GP-TS-RED2 is available exclusively from Abel Cine Tech. We can take orders now and expect to ship in February. International orders are welcome, however if our website does not accept your direct order you will need to email us to complete the transaction. Check out the link below and if there are any questions or comments I'm happy to respond as best I can.

Mitch,

How is the quality on the mechanical parts and the pin connectors?
Does it void any warranties?

Thanks

The quality on all parts is top notch. You'd have to ask RED about their warranty, but there are numerous other battery plates of various types out there for the RED so I'd highly doubt it. The RED's plate where this mounts has several sets of holes milled on it specifically to work with not only their own battery mount but also those of IDX and Anton Bauer. If they make their plate specifically compatible with the battery mounts of others I can't imagine how they could then consider using said mounts something that would void any warranty.

Mitch - Is this the mount mentioned towards the end of last year that will bolt directly to the Zacuto "Red Plate", as seen here?

That looks excellent, just like the custom unit I made for my own use, but it also feeds power info to the RED. Nice!

Would work great with the Long Valley Handle System . . .

The plate from RED has a unique hole pattern. The GP-TS-RED2 is had to fit to this pattern. The Zacuto plate is designed to take the traditional IDX or Anton Bauer mounts but not the RED mount. The hole patterns do not match. I guess you could always machine your own interim plate to fit between them.

Sorry everyone, that was a clerical error. The correct price is being reposted. It is $449.

Apologies, my mistake.

Crap... :umm:

It was mentioned, however, that Switronix are indeed bringing out a hotswap battery mount for the RED One, that will also bolt directly to the underside of the Zacuto Red Plate... I'm guessing this is something we will see in the future?

Our mistake, not yours.

I don't know anything about the Switronix/Zacuto plate.

Bummer! I just got my GP-TS-RED unit a couple of months ago. After getting it replaced because it was faulty (Vinny at SWIT was very helpful!) I was up and running again in December.

Now my unit is obsolete!

:-(

I know the feeling :) Although, unless it stops working, it'll still do what it did last week, and the month before that. It always stinks to buy something and then have a new one of that thing come out. I'm about to buy another Mac Pro for a project, even though I know that the new Mac Pros will probably be coming out at the beginning of next month, dang, it hurts.

Well the new model is 50% more expensive, so I'd consider them 2 different models, not one obsoleting the other.

Agreed.

We will continue to sell both.

How would you mount it?

Pete,

You remove your existing red plate from the RED mount and screw on the GP-TS-RED2 in it's place. When we offered the GP-TSRED, some said their RED plates were having pin issues, so the GP-TS-RED2 bypasses the RED plate, and plugs right into the RED1 via the attached LEMO 6-pin.
