  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Announcing Scarlet-W

Great to hear! Also, by "ready" does that mean the pre orders should start rolling out pretty fast after the first is allocated? I'm late January so I'm assuming I'm far from the front but I'm not sure if that means 2 weeks wait or 2 months.

Healthy batches will go out as soon as that switch is turned but they wont start going out in monster batches till we are finished the entire upgrade process of the MG cameras and our upgrade lines free up... that all depends on the speed that the rest of the customers sends back their cameras for MG upgrades. Once we can switch over the upgrade lines to manufacturing lines look out.. it's gonna be awesome.

I guess I'll sit and wait as patiently as possible and hope I'm in a healthy batch! Thanks for the updates.

You mean send back the "Epic Dragons?"

hello jarred, I think we shouldn't wait for MG cameras to return back and be upgraded, this is not our problem!, they should send back their camera to be upgraded but on the same time you should ship all scarlet-w to others who is on the list and still waiting to receive their camera. one by one

I don't know the procedures be I know that we can't wait for more time. we have a lot projects pending.

That's not their problem either... I wouldn't bank your upcoming shoots on a camera that is still brand new to the market.

I think people need to cut them some slack. They've been pretty responsive and way more flexible compared to other companies who wouldn't even blink an eye at even their most loyal customers. I know because I've invested my hard earned money on other brands and the customer service from them is appalling.

I'm really grateful that the Red team has been giving us a steal of a camera that pretty much tops nearly every other competitor in price, features, image quality, and in this case shipping times. Chill out, be patient, and like they said the camera will be in our hands soon.

Exactly! I don't know any other company that is going to take better care of you then RED. Well done RED team!

Gotta remember... being apart of RED is being apart of a family!

I agree with you brother, but as I say I don't know the procedure they are working with, as I understand from jarred they will wait to MG camera to be return back to be upgraded.

return back>> means shipping and delay may be from customer side also.

so that's why I say they should continue distribute all camera to the rest on list, while on the same time taking care of MG cameras.

Hey Jarred,

When it's time to ship my Scarlet-W down to Australia can you please throw in a couple of weapon hoodies?

Cheers

heh heh heh, Hasan i'm sure your opinion will change when the next upgrade program begins and you are ready to upgrade your Scarlet-W to the next and you are waiting in line and people are asking to push you back :)

I've been a long time lurker of this forum. I have put a deposit down on the Scarlet-W so I am finally about to join this 'family'.

I wont lie; I have sometimes cringed at some of the posts on here, yet I have now found myself checking the forum for updates everyday. I guess that's what joining a family and a big investment does to you :)

I look forward to conversing with you all, brothers.

Hopefully by Thursday.

That's great news! I ordered Raven on the first day and then switched it to a Scarlet-W brain. Do you happen to know if there are any extra LEMO adapters (A) available to ship for people who aren't getting a package? I'm kinda stuck without it... unless I can find a way to turn on the wifi so I can control the camera with foolcontrol.

So do all the Mg Weapon upgrades need to happen before Scarlet-W will ship in quantity? Or is it a specific group of upgrades?

I clearly have no idea how the upgrade stuff works! I figured upgrades were separate from the manufacturing line. Hopefully we don't have a bunch of guys who need upgrades out on weeks of world traveling, haha!

Thanks for the update, Jarred!

My guess is they all just need to be at least notified that their Mg Weapon upgrade is ready before Scarlet-W ships in quantity, not necessarily upgraded.

I continue to be impressed by the level of communication from the RED team. As a newbie to the RED family, I'm just blown away by this.

Sure, I'm as anxious as anybody to get my hands on the Scar-W, but there are a few people that need to chill and be glad they're not stuck with the deafening silence from Blackmagic, Canon or others who never communicate in this kind of detail. Thank you Jarred et al. for your hard work and amazing transparency!

What I take from Jarred's post is the first round of Scarlet-W Cameras are ready to ship. They are like all set to go locked up until they notify the people who have been waiting for about 10 months and payed $5k upfront for a Weapon Upgrade. at that point its on the Owner of the cameras to send in the cam for upgrade, and SHOULD open the floodgates for sending other cameras that were only announced 2 months ago..

Trust me I'm itching to get the new Scarlet, and also have been telling clients I will have the camera ready for their projects by mid march. HOWEVER if there is one thing I've learned you need to have a back up plan.

Fingers crossed that I'm still somewhat early in the queue... Sounds like they've had a lot of Raven preorders switch to Scarlet-W. I haven't bothered giving a realistic estimate (to projects/clients) because you've always got to prepare for delays!
