  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Congrats on announcing so many amazing products in such a short time! What a great year!

Now for a request:
"Scarlet Dragon owners get a $2500 discount off the Scarlet-W Package and get to keep their cameras."
I'm an EPIC DRAGON owner who could not afford the Weapon upgrade. The Scarlet-W seems like the right tool for me next year. Can we Epic owners have a side-grade path to Scarlet-W? I paid a lot more for my camera than a Scarlet owner did. I would be happy with the same $2500 discount. Please? I promise I've been nice all year, never naughty.

You would give up the trade-in value of your EPIC/DRAGON?

Yes, it's 12000USD for a Scarlet-W and having two cameras vs 14000USD (or 16500USD) for upgrading your EPIC to Weapon/MG. So i get the idea, but if you look at it the other way, you are losing more than 10000USD of upgrade credits.
 
maybe because all he needs is a scarlet and he wants to sell his epic second hand, some one could score!

As insane as this might sound to other people, I would love this too. Just can't swing the amount of money it costs for weapon. Though I already asked my RED rep and he said no go.

I'm in sort of the same situation... I've been shooting on Black Magic cameras and completed one feature and a bizillion shorts (most of which are still in post), currently shooting on a Cion, and ready to move up in the world... and the Scarlet-W announcement was well-timed with the non-news from BMD regarding the 4.6K Ursa Mini (which I have on pre-order, but with no deposit)... Not implying any conspiracy or anything, just saying that's how it worked out for me.

I've decked out my profile a little bit, but nothing in it is shot on Red... yet. :)

Yeah... BMD makes some nice cameras, but the company is tough to work with.

That was part of what drove the decision though... being able to get rental income would help me stay out of a desk job, so that I can do more filmmaking and mountain climbing. And filmmaking while mountain climbing. :)

I just love filmmaking in general... there's always so much more to learn no matter how much you have already learned... and I'm tired of working a soul-sucking desk job and not getting paid for my work as a filmmaker...

The invitation is mutual, let me know if you're ever in the Seattle area and we do some filming and grab a drink afterward ;)

Hi everyone! I just wanted to let you know that the firmware issue we had with the ET Gold and V-Mount Battery Plates for the Weapon has been resolved in the v6.1.45 build, which will be released in the very near future.

Happy Holidays everyone! Long time lurker, first time poster. Have pre-order on Raven but still deciding if i should switch to Scarlet-W. Thanks for all the info posted on here! :cheers2:
