  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Announcing Ruby 14-24mm final design!!!

That's a big statement; I'm under the impression Stuart's come across a lot of glass over the years

Paul, Yes your right. I have been repairing lenses for over 25 yrs, so yes I have seen my share of optics. So, I think I know what I'm talking about when I made this statement. We did a recent comparison at Otto Nemenz with a 14mm Master Prime and the Ruby at 14mm, then look identical. Also, the MTF is off the charts on this lens and the distortion is between 1 and 1.5 percent from center to outside perimeter no pin cushion on the edges, outside perimeter is just as sharp as the center. With that said:

"This is yet, the sharpest lens I have EVER come across!!" :willy_nilly: haha!

Stuart:biggrin:

Stuart,

I am sure you are aware that Nikon is releasing a new version of the 70-200 since the previous one was notoriously not proper for Full Frame imaging systems.
It was suffering from very soft corners, as well as severe vignetting.
It still was fine for DX formats but since we are all interested in your lenses because they can provide FF coverage, I truly come to expect you will use the new version of the 70-200 if Nikon manages to fix those serious issues.

What you think?

Emmanuel

Emmanuel,

Yes we are using the new version of the 70-200.

Identical? Was the MP wide open? Stopped down?

Obviously the Ruby has the huge advantage of being able to work on FF35, but it's slower. I don't think the 14mm MP even covers the Epic X "X-35" 30mm-wide sensor, does it?

UP 14mm does not cover for sure... There are no informations in Duclos datebase about MP 14mm.

I think Pawel said 14mm MP does not cover Epic X, if I recall correctly.
