  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

thats a good idea jordan. yah im sure by the time the camera comes out more stuff will be available

I love WC. They're local to me here in Dallas and the owner is a cool guy. They're always coming up with something new. They may not have the cheapest option at times, but they're definitely good quality.

Agreed. Not the prettiest/flashiest either. But I can't say i've ever had an issue with anything of theirs.

I'd bet a large number of accessory based companies are scrambling for the Raven. Thats a camera thats going to be popular in the field. There is a BIG window of opportunity to offer alternative options to what RED makes. Because while I think a lot of their accessories are worth the price and phenomenal quality, price wise, usually hit more in the Weapon/Epic Dragon price range overall, save for a few items.
 
I hope 3rd party raven modules and accessories start popping up soon! Can't wait to see what is on the horizon.
 
i was looking very hard into lensing and making the right choice for the raven, i guess this question only goes out to jarred or brent, unless someone else has been playing with a raven, or got answers to this already.

does it make a lot of sense to go with only EF mounts that have digital communication to the camera?
is there a big advantage to this? i notced while shooting on cooke anamorphic lenses the other week, though it was on an alexa, that all the lens, fstop, focus distance and even depth of field was being overlaid on the monitor. this helped me a lot when managing a few cameras and having operaters, i can double check fstop compensations quickly, as well as showing the director, ok, this shot, you can see he only have 4 inches depth of field, haha… also for the focus pullers, i can really see why they want to be wireless and be at the monitor now…
is this something to expect to be overlaid on the video output stream with a ef digital communicating mount on a raven?
if so that will direct my thoughts on lensing in a very different way.
because i was looking at picking up a used zeiss LWZ or a optimo DP and having it converted, which both are still a pretty penny.
please please answer this question anyone that can!

Is there a section where it shows what parts from an epic will work on a raven? Or will most transfer over? I have the Mini mag. More interested in the side handle.

Nothing from Epic except Redvolt batteries will work with Raven. Weapon and Raven will share modules though.
 
so….10 days until Raven will land???
i wonder if allocations will start exactly on the 17th?

I'm also excited as well but not about when to expect delivery date since I pre-ordered in Jan 2016 geesh so many people in front of me I hope I get it before my Cali trip in June. :undecided:
 
Man... I think I'll maybe get mine in July... I was two weeks out on my preorder from when they launched :( I know everyone and their mom (probably actually happened if anyone checked) wanted/wants one.
 
i admit i was quite lucky ordering mine witin the first 15 minutes of it being live, hopefully on the first allocations, havent heard a word though! 10 days!

I hope you get yours April/May cause I'm a January deposit as well. Jordan made me realize how close shipping is with the 10day countdown. Jarred has been quiet lately, maybe he comes in and surprises with early shipping information. But so many people have yet to be allocated for their scarlet, that I feel we January depositors are in for some wait..
 
the BIG question for Raven allocations:

with the scarlet-w, brains were shipped first, it was said because the modules in the pkg were not available yet.
but if im right in assuming, with Raven it should not matter, or if it does, please jarred or brent let us know.
would a pkg ship the same time as just the brain just depending on time stamp???

AND, is there a case involved in the Raven pkg???

Does the AC power adaptor plug into the body or would I need an expander module?
