Okay.
First off - I think now is a good time for a REDCINE-X section in the forum under RED Workflow. Jim's thread is becoming a bit LONG ...
If you start playing with the REDCINE-X alpha and RED Rocket™™ for a while you can see (in a about 10 seconds) it has the total potential to be THE killer on-set RED application.
Here's the list to make my dreams come true:
#1: AUTO SYNC AUDIO
I have beaten the "auto audio sync with BWF files" via TC to death since day one - and that has just got to happen for so many reasons.
#2: MXF Export
We all know how important MXF export support is for all the Avid folks. Jim says it's planned. We want the flavor that Avid doesn't need to IMPORT. Just file copy to the bin.
#3: ANNOTATIONS & META-DATA EXPORT
Since the project file - .cinexproj is an XML - please give me a window to annotate. SCENE, SHOT, TAKE - NOTES, etc.
Then give me a way to export that data (merged with the .R3D filename + .R3D meta-data) - I'd be happy with a simple .CSV or tab-delimited.
And if you really want to make me super happy - let me make MARKERS on a specific frame - that I can NAME and ANNOTATE.
Folks can debate what the role of a DIT vs. Playback vs. Script Supervisor with respect to annotating on set all day long - the future is COLLABORATIVE TAGGING by more than one crew member using new tools and technology. This UI is just too handy to find and scrub clips - let me make notes.
#4: EDL Export.
I like the timeline for quick and dirty edits. Let me export a simple EDL.
#5: Control Surface Support
Euphonix MC Color please.

#6: THUMBNAIL FOLDER
I'd like the app to create a FOLDER for thumbnails. You should be able to select, change and have multiple thumbnails for each clip - they are saved a JPG or TIFFs in the folder with the filename + _001, _002, etc. This way - you can have your R3Ds OFFLINE and still access the thumbnails to know which shot to pull, etc. - lots of things I can do with this.
Congrats on the alpha builds - really impressive start.
