Hi, I have budget for one of the Angenieux DP Zooms and I can't choose between 16-42mm and 30-80mm, if I take one of them with what lens can it be matched? I am thinking maybe 30-80mm with the Red Pro 17-50mm. What do you think?

A lot depends on what you shoot most of the time. If you shoot mostly average-sized interior spaces, go with the 16-42. Everything else needs the 30-80. I have both and they are excellent lenses. The 30-80 definitely spends a lot more time on the camera... It probably stretches your budget, but you should take a look at the Fuji Cabrio 19-90.

Complete agreement with everything Jeff is saying. The Cabrio, while still being handhold-able is a little heavier and longer than either Optimo (which are really similar in size to each other). Its pretty much twice the price though.

Cabrio is nice and all but NOTHING and I mean NOTHING beats the look of the Angeniuex lenses.

I say if you were gonna just go with one lens, I would get the 30-80. They are both pretty but the 30-80 will give you more selection since you're getting 50mm of focal length difference rather than 26mm difference of the wider side.

But if you're looking for a 16-42 in GREAT condition, hit up my buddy Dan Blanchett. He is selling one for a very competitive price. His lens is pristine brand new practically.

Thank you guys, I appreciate it, I think I'll go with the 30-80mm...
