Hey there,

Wondering if anyone has had any experience with the angenieux 35-70mm, I recently found one for sale and was rather intrigued. Wondering if it is worth checking out and adding to the arsenal.

Also anyone know of any footage shot on RED Epic/Scarlet?

Thanks.

In my experience, it's a decent lens optically and produces some very pleasing images. It's flaws lie in the mechanical design and materials used. The housing is mostly plastic. The mechanics are very conservatively lubricated. All in all, I would say that it can certainly make some great images, not the best lens for cinema work, but probably a fun lens worth the relatively low price.

The value is up to you. If it's a specific focal length you're after and it's on par with other lenses on ebay and such, then I would say it's worth it. The loose tolerances and plastic housing make it less desirable for cinema work. Those types of lenses are prone to image shift and back-focus error. For example, if you adjust the focus barrel while rolling, you may see a jump in the image due to slightly lower tolerances and loose components.
