  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Angenieux 25-250mm f3.2 - T3.9 (1960's zoom lens) Test

Thanks, Ignacio, I've enjoyed it much!

I so like the picture character at moderate zoom levels, so smoothy and yet detailed.

Obviously the lens is calculated and thus corrected around the wide end.

Why did you choose f11? I that because of the lens becomes clear only at this f-stop? What about lets say f5.6?

Hello Ilya,

When I was testing the lens, I found it hard to believe that so many classic movies used this lens so extensively, since its performance is so-so (at best) at most apertures and focal lenghts.

I decided to use T4 (or T3.9) and T11 just to make things easy. I had just a clapperboy for help shooting this and T4 needed an internal ND 2.1 on the Mini and T11 was the next below, ND 1.2. I also had to make some ISO adjustments due to some weather changes while shooting this.

At T5.6 the lens improves but begins to be acceptable at the T8-T11 range. Of course, nowadays what most people would like about this lens is all the aberrations shown wide-open I guess!
