  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

And now... reconforming issues...

Hello!
Once again, trying to get this organized now that someone else is going to follow the editing process in a macbook pro. I'm not used to the FCP workflow so I'm having all kind of doubts.

I brought from Premiere a sequence full of 4.5k footage linked with their respective wav audio files.
I changed the xml file so that Final Cut would find immediately the _M.mov proxies of each file.
Now I'd like to reconform every file to Apple ProRes. I tried to follow the white paper instructions, using the media manager, and so on.
But I can't get to log & capture the files.

And by the way: is there any chance to do the converting into a specific directory?

Thanks for your time!

I don't see which Clipfinder option could help with this...

Thanks for your answer anyway!

You're not going to be able to Log&Transfer unless the files originated in FCP. Which they didn't in your case.

Your best bet is going to be loading the XML into clipfinder and either sending the project to RC-X (Requires the paid version of Clipfinder) or rendering the files to ProRes using Clipfinder's render engine.

There's currently no way to use the whitepaper method to get the files into prores unless you use the whitepaper workflow *from the beginning*.

clipfinder should do it. you can load the xml to create a batch list, render out prores, and then you can run a reconform on the xml, selecting "use only first 9 or 16 characters" option, and pointing it at the folder of prores files. I think that will do what you are looking for.

I think there might be some confusion going on here. As I'm reading it, Martin's problem is not reconnecting to the *proxies*, but rather that he would like to generate ProRes files from the sequence of proxies he's already successfully imported.

... an in that case:
Clipfinder i your friend...

What I outlined is a way to take an FCP sequence that is linked to proxies, generate prores from the takes list, and reconnect to those prores. I think that's what he's asking for.
