  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Anamorphic Zoom Lens up to 5500 USD ?

I shot this video for Charlie Winston with Audrey Tautou on film with the Lomo anamorphic 40-240. At some point the iris broke and I had to take it apart, while in a tiny village in Spain and try to fix it. I was able to wedge it wide open and the 2nd day of 2 was shot wide open, using ND's to get exposure. Liked that lens a lot, but eventually had to do a gear purge and sold it to Morgan Schmidt. Not sure if he has it any more. The image is pretty solid 40-200, at 240 not so much.

Great work man.

One more thing Andy.
Is there any way or any ana rear adapter that can be used with some old/new zoom lenses ? For example. I want one rear ana, but for 20-120mm and 25-250mm lenses. Can it be done ? Just to check which one is better. I mean in PL mount of course.

Hi Artur.

I can only go as a guide that (historically) the Lomo rear anas were made specifically for a 'type' of zoom - ie there's one that was made for the 20-120 (that seems to be used a lot for Angies/Cookes etc), one for the 25-250, another for the 37-140 (foton rear) and one for the 25-80.

Now, they all might be interchangeable/adaptable but the zooms they're made to fit all vary in size (size of elements as well as physical size!) so I'd guess that some may be more adaptable than others.

In theory, it's a rear ana adapter, so (as it's the last thing you stick into teh mount!) it should provide results from any lens... but you'll need the zoom calibrating/set up for the rear ana. Similarly, with modern zooms, logic says it should work - but, in practice lots of things can go against you!

I'd suggest talking with someone like Rafael (Rafcamera), Olex (Olex Services) or Viktor at Spbsale . They'll know what is and isn't possible... but you will have to give specifics to them (ie which lenses you want to use etc).

Thanks Andy.
I will write to Olex. Raf is often 'bored' with correspondence and do not answer my emails ;)

LOL!

I find both Olex and Viktor to be great.

Keep the thread updated when you find out - I'll be interested to know myself ;)
