From what I've seen on here the general consensus seems to be "yes" or "most likely", but I would love some kind of confirmation from RED, if possible, on whether or not there will be Anamorphic support for Scarlet and if so what are the odds it will be in January? I have a project I'm planning in January/February that I would really love to use some anamorphic glass on... :)

Same here - X2 projects (one is a commercial gig and the other is a personal project), both shooting Feb/Mar 2012.

Would love to shoot Scarlet and Ana, so any updates would be great.

I've been working on my Producer for ages to try and go Epic... but Scarlet is a price point she's not arguing about... so I'm crossing fingers for Ana modes.

Let's hope for news soon.

I have 3 maybe 4 shoots lined up and ready whenever my camera ships. Would love to shoot at least one on Anamorphic glass.

same goes for me. I've already asked that some days before the actual release but got no reply.

Why is Red not giving us this important information? its normal that customers want to know what they pay for right? i dont get that...

This thread is not meant as a criticism towards RED. I am sure they will give us answers to everything when they know. I know what I paid for... The specs they provided at launch. I just hope that there might be a few more things added in, like this, in the near future.

Maybe there trying to make these formats work with these "slower" processors. Were all find out when its in our hands I guess, or down the road.

Hey guys... everyone realizes you can still shoot ana without an ana mode right? you loose a bit of resolution, but if you want the look... you have some res to spare at 4k. Just saying...

Yeah, I know you can, but how will it show up on the touchscreen? I was under the assumption it would be squeezed and would require an external monitor that would let you unsqueeze the image to see it correctly. Is that right? I would also prefer to have the clips correctly labeled as anamorphic in the metadata, but that may not be the end of the world.

It will be squeezed... If you need to shoot ana though you can get around it with external fixes if red does not enable Ana. Though on te red website it mentions using anamorphic with scarlet

I saw today that the Scarlet Features page on red.com says you can use anamorphic lenses. I don't know if it has always been there or not since I was only looking at the Tech Specs page before.

Most standard 35mm cameras (or large sensor cams like the AF100, GH1/2, F3, FS100 etc) can use Anamorphic lenses... if the lenses are PL mount, they fit PL's or old style OCT-19's or even PV mount... they're no different to standard spherical lens (in terms of mounts - obviously, the lens construction, amount of extra galss and path to sensor varies depending on the type of Ana lens you're using).

Obviously, as the sensor is 16X9 - the recorded image will be vertically stretched - so what a number of people are hoping for (as in the Epic) is a 'de-squeeze' viewfinder mode... it makes framing easier when you're not looking at super elongated images ;)

The RED message is, I think, the fact that you can interchange your lens mount system to accommodate any type of glass you have (and any rear mount fitting).

If they mention anamorphic lenses work fine on their sales page then I'm sure we get the de-squeeze. Even if it's not there day one, I'm sure we will get it before long.

Well - I hope so

'Suppose we'll find out soon as the Scarlet starts to ship... it's all been a little quiet for a while... so there'll be a Big Bang soon, no doubt!

Problem is more that you lose the wide FOV when you use a x2 anamorphic and 16x9. Then you need to crop sides to have a proper (not too wide) aspect ratio. I don't know how this is done on previous RED models, is the anamorphic mode kind-of like 4:3-ish (or whatever is correct for x2) with squeeze on-camera?
