Hey guys,

Im stuck on trying to calibrate my anamorphic settings for a shoot i have coming up. In the past, every time I've shot on anamorphics i was delivering a widescreen/anamorphic aspect ratio to client. I would shoot in 4kws or less and set my settings to Ana 2x to fill the sensor size. In a couple weeks I'm shooting a job on Kowa anamorphics and the client would like to finish 16:9 (or 5kHD or 6Khd on the in camera menu). Does anyone have any input on how i can set the camera to fill a whole 16:9 frame while still shooting on the anamorhics?

Sorry for my crappy explanation. Ive been up for way too long- ha.

Thanks for any help.

Adriaan

Unless you use 1.3X Hawk anamorphics, you'd have to resize and crop in post if you use 2X anamorphics to get a 16x9 full frame image.

Think of it this way -- if your image has a 2X squeeze, then you'd only need to record a .889 : 1 aspect ratio area to get a 1.78 : 1 (16x9) image once unsqueezed.

Thanks David! I appreciate your help and am a fan of your work..

So it sounds like my only choices is to keep doing what i've been doing and crop in post.
