So I guess what I'm looking forward to most once the Scarlet fairy comes is dusting off (geez) and trying out this Iscorama anamorphic adapter I got about two years ago. It's got such a unique look!! Anyone else gonna be trying out any anamorphic glass on their Scarlet? Right now I have that adapter on a stepdown ring connecting to a Tamron lens that's an APS-C lens. I'm hoping I can have some other stepdown rings made to fit the new Zeiss lenses I'm gonna get. I'm also hoping that I won't see any edges of the adapter on anything wider than a 28mm lens at 4K. I'm thinking 5K at 28mm might show some edge. Who knows. Maybe it won't work at all!

I leave for Ecuador on Feb. 24th an am crossing my fingers that this bad boy will be here by then, but who knows. Put a down payment 4 hours after the announcement, so we'll see. It'll be close.

Nice. I'd love to see some shots posted once it's all together. I just got an Elmoscope II from ebay for my Red One to work with S16 glass in 2K. Since the lenses rotate at the end I'm making a support unit that fits on the 19mm rails.

What concerns me is the small - only 35mm - diameter of the rear element. Considerably smaller than the front elements of the lenses. I'm not optimistic about getting very long shots. I'll be interested to see what you end up with in for wide angle with the Iscorama.

Yeah who knows. May not work for superwide stuff, but I guess it by itself (along with probably a 28mm lens) would be as wide as I'd need to go and anything in the 11-16mm range I could just crop off the top and bottom of the final image and maybe add in some anamorphic like flares in after effects if the situation calls for it. I have an Iscorama 54, so the rear element is 54mm I think. Which should work on a lot of Canon or Zeiss lenses if the right stepdown rings are made. But I did try to use this on my buddy's 5D and it looked bad. Lotsa rounded edge action.

Good luck with the Elmoscope! Never heard of that one til today. I may have run across it in my pursuit for anamorphic glass about two years ago, but I don't remember it. Looks like a good little addition to the arsenal.

I won a 48 Hour Film Project in Louisville while using the Iscorama. Called "Huckleberry Johnson." It's about a black midget leaving home to get him a white bitch.

We then went all the way down to Miami for the national screening only to find out that they must have a jackass editor who doesn't understand 2.35:1 and played the whole thing stretched out to 16:9. I was effin pissed. I'm thinking we're the only team to have ever used anamorphic glass on a project. Anyway, I'm just super pumped to try this thing out on a Red sensor. It already looks great on the 7D, so I'm totally wet dreamin about the Scarlet look coupled with better lenses. Customizing a certain look is important to stand out, but I live in Louisville where a great custom look will go mostly unappreciated.
