  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

What's the best way to properly desqueeze anamorphic footage? Do I need to use Redcine or can I use Red Alert (or Red Rushes for that matter) as well?

We shot in 4K ANA and when I load it up into RedCine I can't seem the get the aspect ratio right.
 
In REDCINE got to the shot tab and make x=100 y=50 in a 4k project. Turn on your 2.35 guides, make a 2k comp and scale uniformly to the 2.35 guide.
You will notice that you lose and crop out horizontal resolution. This is normal for anamorphic on RED.
You can do it in REDrushes too but I don't remember the exact settings and those settings will be different depending on your target output resolution.
