  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

An Unfortunate Setback At Duclos Lenses

Saw that here in recent years, targeted theft of luxury vehicles, down to the specific color and the desired options. These people are pros, teched out for crime, laughing all the way to the bank. Hollywood would have a hard time doing justice to this story.

Hopefully, the Red facilities are 'Fort Knoxed', you can be sure these same fecks have a sleazy eye on that technology.

Matt,

I send my deepest condolenses. Having just taken delivery of my lens 2 months ago and used it on a commercial last week I will repeat what many know. You do a great job and it is an incredible lens. I hope you get the lenses back and I look forward to visiting the new digs.

:-(
Terrible news. I hope someone catches those bastards.

On the bright side, congrats on your upcoming new location!

The first Epic was stolen in France. Not sure what happened, but my immediate reaction was that it was corporate espionage.

If the 11-16's were not finished though, how many lens tech are out there that could complete them?

Looking forward to the new Lens Lab. When do you expect to move?

That is hideous news. Matt shooting all the action stuff that I do I see a lot of shooters with the 11-16's out there. I will keep my eyes peeled. If I get the chance I hope to turn them up and of course throw in a good throat punch to the fools before I call the police.
Good luck with the move and getting back on track.

Sorry to hear about this Matt. It is amazing how many of us have experienced a theft in this business. Almost everyone I know has had some type of gear theft occur at some time during their career. It is a sad statement of society in general. I hope you recover the items ASAP. And thanks so much for the good work you do at Duclos Lenses. I am a very happy customer and look forward to a continued mutually beneficial relationship. Congrats on the move too!

Sorry to hear of the misfortune Matt. The 11-16 is one of my favorite lenses, never leave home without it. It will be worth the wait for those who have them on order.

Thanks everyone for the kind words and major thanks to the RED guys for letting me post this here.
Our best bet at this point is finding one of the lenses for sale. They are fully built so they look just like all the other 11-16mm lenses. Some of them hadn't received the final tuning process all of the lenses go through, but they are still useable. Every single lens has an individual serial number, laser engraved on the front ring of the lens opposite the "Duclos Lenses" engraving. I would assume if they were being sold, the sellers would either machine off, or cover up the serial numbers so look out for missing numbers as well.

Here's hoping the culprits are caught quickly! So sorry to hear the news. Duclos is the best lens shop in town!
