An idea for managing the back ordered items

Since it's really hard to get any concrete information on the ETA shipping dates for back ordered items, how about a website section where you can check the status that's regularly updated?

Like this status bar that Duclos has on their website - I think is a great idea:

I'm sure that the bomb squad and the backorder guys are overwhelmed with the amount of emails, so instead of spending time replying to every individual email asking the same question, how about having the centralized place where we can check the status of the order?

My Bomb Squad rep provided me with the back orders manager (BrianB) email but I could not get him to reply to my question (reower Pack shipping ETA).
Very frustrating not being able to get any information.

It's more of a constructive idea than a complaint.

Still vague but better than no reply:

RED CHARGER and POWER PACK - Currently fulfilling backorders, expect to be out of backorder by early October 2009.

BATTERY PLATE (as stand-alone and as part of BELT CLIP, CRADLE, and QUICKPLATE) - Limited quantities, but currently shipping.
