  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

An idea' a favor

If RED came out with a small Pro Res recording module, you would see a lot more shooting of it on TV.

The first 4 seasons of always sunny in Philly were shot on DVX 100 a's ...seriously.

I just remembered that while I was reading this thread .

Even so not only my country, Italy, but all of Europe and the north, belong to Arri, do partly to the absurd amount of campaigning they do, and the insane deals the Rental houses give for the Alexa, practically giving it away

Sorry Ketch, I respect you and your enthusiasm, but this is just not true. The major 4 rental houses here in Rome, which basically serve the large majority of productions in Italy, actually charge more for a "standard" Alexa than for the Epic.
If there's one camera that's seriously cheap to rent at the moment, and getting cheaper, it's the Red One MX: in fact, it's getting so cheap that some people are even considering it as a 2K camera for tv series productions, a market which is still largely dominated by film (S16mm).
As for the "absurd campaigning", I personally haven't seen such a thing: I've seen "events" to present the cameras, true, but that's just not Arri. The winning strategy, at least here, has so far been a long-standing, reliable, strong presence in the field (Arri Italia), and an overly bad perception of Red. Actually, if I had to name the #1 reason, that'd definitely be perception (of Red as a company, of the cameras, of workflow).

Exactly the situation in Denmark as well, and from what I hear, Sweden and Norway too.
