A RED ONE at 4K measures the same resolution as slow speed S35mm film from a 4K scan (about 3.2K)... but we are still not likely to win any technical achievement awards. No worries... we would rather win over customers.

Probably the same horizontally but twice vertically compared to Super-35 cropped to 2.40.

I think Red deserves somes sort of recognition. But, I dont know if academy awards are given on cameras. David Mullen or Mike Most would know if there is a precedent for that.

I'm pretty sure both the Arri 435 and 235, and the Moviecam compact, were presented with a technical award from the academy. I don't know about Panavision, but it would be quite weird if they had never gotten one for their cameras/lenses.

Both Panavision & ARRI have received technical Oscars. So has IMAX, and even Nagra for its sound recorders.
