Amazon Prime Increasing from $79 to $99

I just got an email confirming that when my prime renews is July the rate is increasing from $79 to $99.
My rate increases in July 2014. So check your renewal dates!


I shop on amazon a lot so I feel like the discounted prices I get probably even out the membership fee. If I had to order more in order to get free shipping or wait around until I have several things to order together then I'll probably end up spending that much more anyway. It's just harder to part with it all at once.


I will probably still come out ahead but not sure. Its probably still worth it but it pizses me off

Maybe it's to help cover the cost of movies/books/etc that you're allowed to view/read with that membership. Shipping prices could also be increased as well from their carriers.

Prime increased in the UK from £49.99 to £79 recently. It was a delivery 'only' service (no movies etc), but with the increase in price, the UK now has Prime Instant Video... pretty much as the US has had, I presume.

So looks like Amazon are increasing fees across all territories.

I live in Hawaii and let me tell you - They could charge me a lot more and it would STILL be worth it.

I don't really even use the video streaming service all that much. Free S/H to Honolulu is not even a word in the vernacular of 99.99% of companies who operate via mail order. I have bought so much production based DIT/Edit gear from Amazon its not even funny. The prices are the same or better than B&H and I've saved like $5,000 this past year alone.

I hate to see one retailer monopolize so heavily but not is the time for Newegg and B&H to step it up and offer free Hawaii shipping.

Hummm. this could be another reason for me to be Glad that I am back in School (lol)... $49 for Amazon, RED EDUCATIONAL, Student discount on nMac pro, Tax break so on... Now if B and H started to offer Student discount to all majors (not only Film schools) then I am all set. Feel like staying in school forever (lol)

What is funny... Actually NOT... Is that at list in my experience as of recently.... Never checked before, and discovered by chance... When buying with Prime, all items, which include shipping, are far more expensive, some over $100!!

So much for PRIME service... More like PRIMEery ripping you off...

Were instead of getting charged for the total package of items purchased at once, you get charged within the PRIME item individually, making your total shipping charges MULTIPLE times more expensive then with NON Prime items.

Then again, Amazon in Europe, especially Italy, Spain, and even UK, is a pure JOKE!!

Can't get shit of what I usually get in Amazon USA!!


Good thing is that I am just about to rap things up here and returning to the US for good... Again...
