  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Am I stupid for wanting a used RED Scarlet MX for $10,000?

I just want a used, workable RED Scarlet (brain+all needed accessories). I've been researching cameras for the last 7 months and the only two cameras that I feel can visually capture the look I want are the DJI Inspire and the RED Scarlet. I understand the camera doesn't make the film, but I want that crisp look. So I'm fixed on the Scarlet.

Is $10,000 out of the ballpark for a used RED Scarlet? I thought that seemed reasonable until I came on here.

Also note: I don't want to rent so please don't suggest that.

What accessories would you be looking for in that price range.

The Scarlet-W probably knocked the used Scarlet Dragon down to that range. Used Scarlet MX is nearly free now, lol. Jk, but they prob run way under 10K.

I have a Scarlet MX in good condition that I will be selling to make room for a Raven. It's a shoot-ready package (just need batteries and lens), and we could definitely arrange something around a $8-10K range depending on the accessories you want. Just PM me.

I sold my scarlet mx with monitor, 256gb card, canon mount, card reader, v mount belt clip, for $6500 USD. I'm sure I could have got more if I waited around, but I think that was a good for both parties.

I just purchased a Like new Scarlet X from someone on this very site, ..
camera had a total of 65 hours, ... like new , 4x redmags, 4x redvolts, EVF, 5" mon, cables, redmag reader, for less then
your stated price.
Awesome seller, ( thanks Scott ), great person to deal with and a damn good way into Red if your wanting to shoot while waiting on a Scarlet W.

even as older model the camera is still damn amazing!

If a new Scarlet-W is around $16000 I would say that used camera is way over-priced. Don't do it.

I consider my Scarlet-MX to be priceless :)

Yes, why would you spend 5 figures for an old camera. Plus the DJI Inspire is a drone not a camera.

Robert if you are serious about buying a camera I have one with tons of accessories. Also, like you, I am in Boston.

Don't pay $10k for a Scarlet-X unless you're getting it fully kitted out.

I bought a used Scarlet-X brain while I wait on my Scarlet-W, and then also picked up a bunch of the accessories I had been planning to get for the S-W anyway - 7" DSMC2 monitor (with lemo b adapter so it works on the S-X), mags (the S-X I got has the minimag SSD module, which is key), batteries, motion mount, etc.

It's possible to pick up a Scarlet-X brain only for under $5k.

And I am not suggesting you pay 10k for it. That is, if you are real and not a cyber robot....torquing us here.

I just sold Scarket MX, side handle, EF mount, 2x 128gb mags, no monitor for $5500AUD. Lucky buyer I reckon, they are a great little camera

He probably means together with the X5R.

Heh, I had a friend in Rotorua (Thomas) who was looking at a Scarlet at that price from Sydney! Though he didn't go through with it, wonder however if it was the same one? I was kinda half curious myself about it once it gets down to that kind of price range.
