Am I misunderstanding something? I thought FCP wasn't fit yet to deal with 4k. I exported a shot from Redalert, 4k 2:1 redcode 36, full debayer, as prores HQ. I didn't do log and transfer but just imported the quicktime file into FCP, and when I dragged it unto the timeline the format was 4k and everything ran smoothly. Do I hear someone from Red grumble "why can't you just be happy that everything works fine?" or don't I understand what's going on. I hope someone can enlighten me.
Greetings,
Hans

Even I was able to export a 4K clip from RedCine and then imported the same into FCP, ONCE only. I tried repeating it but wasn't able to. Funny.

Hi Gunleik,
it was the standard 4096. I wonder why this should be nothing like the native handling of 4k red material that everyone is asking for? Is there still a serious difference in quality?

Ramesh,
I tried again and had no trouble. fcp 6.0.5. Only magic bullet Looks told me my hardware wasn't up to rendering footage like this (which was disappointing because we just bought it; 8 core, 3ghz, 4gb ram; maybe I need more ram). A very old but very nice, simple thing, cinemagicX, had no trouble.
