  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

ALUMINUM Canon Mounts for Epic X?

A scarlet with Al canon mount ships dec 1. Al is easier to machine than Ti so maybe they will get done quicker than the Tis are coming out? just speculating.

Could someone kindly explain to me the scenarios in which you absolutely had to have Ti? I know it's stronger and has less thermal expansion, but Red is fanatic about quality and reliability so I can't imagine the Al canon mount is any way compromised. Someone paint me a picture which ends in "man I'm so glad we spent the extra $1500".

Some people have discussed long lenses and whatnot, but even with my canon 80-200 I use a support bracket for the lens itself so it's really not that stressed at the mount.

When we say thermal expansion are we talking within the normal range of temps or are we talking antartica and the surface of the sun.
 
Well that's reason enough there to go Ti
