DSLRs are being used more and more for producing video, there is loads of timelapse out there and there was a recent piece on reduser about using multiple linked dslr’s to shoot a single moment in time. I came across this feature on the Canon Professional Network website, Roman Kuhn made elements of a viral video for Mercedes using EOS 1D mk2 and mk3 stills cameras. The result is very creative and he outlines the method used. Its makes you wonder what the next generation of Canon DSLR’s will be capable of?.

I find this very interesting. Probably useful for commercials, music vids, and possibly some artistic flourishes in feature films, but if you watch it too long, it sort of gives you a headache.

This type of undercranking has been used well in films. Chungking Express comes to mind. (Doyle says they shot undercranked to save cash on 35mm film ).
