  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Alternative 16GB CF Cards?

"It would be like going into a fancy restaurant byob."

FYI. It is not uncommon in the U.S. to go into the nicest restaurant with a bottle of your own wine. Most restaurants allow it, but charge you a "corkage" fee. I do it all the time.

Come'on! I want all the formats Red One can handle in a 16gb CF for $199 :-)

so do we all.. but I don't want a 16gb CF card for $199 thats gonna crap out on me and introduce all sorts of corruption and disk errors.

Hi Carlo,

As I mentioned in my PM, I used my Lexar on a shoot a few weeks ago (4KHD RC28) with no issues, though most of the recording was done to my Red Drive. After reading your post I decided to test it with a longer take time. So I filled the entire card with 1 take @ 4K 16x9 RC28 and again @ 4K 2:1 RC36 and neither take had any dropped frames. I'm on the release build of 17. I dunno, maybe I'm just lucky. If so, it's a rare thing. :)

Adrew thanks for testing. Wow, 4K 2:1 RC36 I must say that you got pretty lucky with those lexars!... as I said I've tested mines again and again at 4KHD RC28 both build 18 and 17 and after 20-30 sec they start dropping like crazy. I don't want to know what's the secret behind Red 16Gb cards, but I'd be really curious to know what makes two supposedly identical Lexar cards to behave differently.

Anyway, I hope things get interesting with the Pretec cards.

It only takes ONE incident of losing a once-in-a-lifetime shot before people say, "Nevermind the price, give me something reliable!"
