Hey guys. Does anybody know if this Allstar rig will work directly with the RED's DSMC Quick Release Platform Pack?

It looks like the DSMC Platform should slide right onto the Allstar Arri Dovetail. I would love some confirmation as this could make a great low budget option for those who can't afford the Clutch system.

I have the allstar rig configured for Arri base. Since the new DSMC QR is designed to Arri standards.... makes sense.

Allstar's rig can also be ordered to conform to the R1 base dovetail so you have to be careful about which bits you order. Also... I believe Mr. Allstar said that he was going to stop making the shoulder rigs in an earlier post to focus on lens re-housing.

Thanks, Chris. I was just looking at the Element Technica Mantis and it seems like the same principle might apply. It looks like both shoulder rigs have a standard Arri dovetail that the DSMC base plate can just latch right onto. Would love to get some confirmation on both of these options.

Sure thing... What I did was order my Allstar Rig with an Arri compatible dovetail. I then bought an ET Arri dovetail for my 1030HDs and the ET 19mm Studio Hybrid, which lives on the camera. This allows me to slide the camera off the tripod and right onto the shoulder rig... which is, I think, what you're talking aboutdoing. The videos at Red.com about the DSMC QR confirm that they have designed it around the Arri dovetail. It actually looks just like the ET Hybrid I bought (except for the Quick Release bits of course).

I thought I had just got everything all figured out and Red had to come along and release all these cool new bits!!!

This same concept can also be done using the AP Bridge Plate. The Bridge Plate uses the Arri standard with 19mm rods. This will fit on the AP Universal Arri Adapter Plate that can fit on any dovetail. The AP ShoulderMount uses the AP Bridge Plate as the center piece for the ShoulderMount. The shoulder pad slide is based on the Arri standard so you can just slide in the shoulder pad right into the already configured AP Bridge Plate. With some added handles on the 19mm rods you then will have a shoulder mount. You can go from stabilizer to tripod to shoulder mount in seconds without ever having to change your camera configuration on the AP Bridge Plate.
