  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Allstar new products- handle, rods clamp, arri dovetail...

Dear Allstar,
I've bought 2 Element Technica baseplates with no problems with either.
Red didn't design their dovetail to ET/Arri specifications but only by a couple of millimeters which can be easily shaved off.
Question: Will your shoulder mount (A-S2) connect directly into your new Arri base plate without the intermediate dovetail plate (Arri-DS)

Hi, The bases you bought were casting products and didn`t do hard anodizing for surface treatment. "Hard anodizing" is why my old base(be made by ARRI) has worked over 20 years without heavy attrition. And the answer of your question is "Yes, of course". You won`t need to put ARRI base and a small ARRI dovetail on your shoulder like Mantis.
The date of availably will fall to the middle of April. I`ll shot CF in four countries during April, so I really want to get one ASAP too.

Since you don't seem to know much about either the Mantis or our base plates, let me educate you a little. First the mantis can be bolted on to the bottom of the red without a base plate thus giving you a lowed CG. And as far as our base plates are concerned there have never been any wear issues with any of our base plates either the older cast ones or the new billet Hybrids. I hope this clears up these questions for you.

Thanks for your recommendation. I knew the Mantis could be mount on the camera bottom directly, but you might take off the base then screw on Mantis, when you go back tripod, you need take Mantis off then screw the base back....
The wear needs time, you should tell me after 5 years.
Maybe we should stop talk about other`s products, that isn`t morality.

Just received our Allstar handheld combo and dovetail today and it's fantastic! Great design, so comfortable and controllable and I can finally get rid of that Red cheeseplate and shoulder pad. Ace! And thanks for the efforts on delivery. No problems in the end.
