  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Allstar new products- handle, rods clamp, arri dovetail...

Hey Sanjin, What is that Bellows setup you have on the mattebox?

Sanjin, how do you feel about it on the whole? Looks like a pretty sweet setup.

Do you have any pictures of you holding that rig?

I'll do some photos next week

EVF mount "The Zred Zwivel" by Zacuto plus one short 2 inch 15mm rod by Vocas.

The whole rig is getting Easy Rig support in the next month(s).

Thanks for the info but I was actually talking about the material you are using to block the light at the back of the mattebox.

That is a custom handmade bellows/cover for lenses that must extend during a zoom.

any hints as to where I could get one? thanks

Hi, Sanjin, I heard your need. Thanks for your suggestion, I`ll make a Origo mount for my handle in low price, about $10.
Maybe you could set my handle on right hand to feel the difference between RED and Allstar handle.:sarcasm:

Allstar,

send me that Origo mount as soon as you can.

Then I'll make the new photos with more details.

Nice demo

In the demo I noticed that the camera doesn't sit level, a common problem with hand held units and the slant of a shooters shoulder. I do know that the ET system is adjustable. Is there a way to adjust this setup.

Something as simple as a slanted pad that can be swiveled depending whether you are shooting off of your left or right shoulder.

Hi, thanks guys
Most of camera`s shoulder were non-adjustable. Because you will adjust when you watch the image. Even the shoulder were adjustable, you still need to watch the image because your shoulder and vertebra will change and tilt with time, specially with a heavy camera.
And a good news, Allstar ARRI base will come out in next month (finally...-_-;)
It has batter quality than "big company" products. (I saw a "big company" ARRI base today, Mmm....)

Note, the difference in fit between the Red bottom plate and the Arri base is a couple of mm's.
For example if you wish the Red shoulder plate to fit into the Arri base plate, you only need to shave a couple of mm off the dovetail section of the Red shoulder plate.

Question: Is there a solution where the shoulder pad (A-S2) can fit directly into the Arri base plate without using the Arri - DS extended dovetail (less weight)?
D

Hi, those MM`s are for the ARRI Base, the company should made better quality if they call "Top end".
Ans: My ARRI base could mount with A-S2 without dovetail and get lower height. less weight of course!

Thanks for that....
the problem is a lot of people have already purchased a 3rd party base plate and use Red's handheld solution. One of the troubles with Red's hand held is the shoulder mount. It hurts after a short while. yours look great. the other thing is often people want to go directly from tripod to hand held in seconds.... so being able to slide A-S2 directly into Arri base plate would be good. I'd say if your shoulder mount w slid straight into anybody's Arri base plate..it would fly out the door. Hopefully they won't have to buy a new base plate to achieve this...dunno?
D

How much would you sell the Arri kit for by subtracting the handles? Basically I'm interested in the Arri kit but I already have the Red handles

Hi, David
I`m tired to caters to others` products(I`ve made dovetails for RED bottom plate and extra handle stick already), designing on myself way will more easily. I can`t do anything if you have used ARRI Base, but my new design ARRI base provides you lighter and lower gravity for hand-held shot. Of course match for Epic and Scarlet.
I`ve used highest raw material(7075) made by CNC turning-milling complex machine (laser cutting for some parts) and did the hardest surface treatment(only ARRI products do that). I can`t find any other way to make it more "Top end". The factory tell me " you`re crazy", I tell them making those is just my interest, for fun, not for living.

Hi, Shawn
You can choose A-S2 + Arri-DS, and see your need and budget for two ExHS.
My handles are much comfortable than RED`s , you should try it.
