  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Allstar mount

Zak, did you have the iris gear option for your Prolock? That makes it super easy to change aperture. I never use the iris ring on the lens anymore. I am intrigued with the Allstar mount, but I like my Tokina 11-16 too much to give it up.

yah I didnt like the control on the prolock.. its good for lenses without an iris.. but id rather use the lens so i can see where im at..

also...sometimes the iris control on the mount would engaged, and other times it wouldnt.

sometimes it let me open up all the way, and sometimes it didnt.. you have to fiddle with it to find its engage spot.

seems like its the same as the pro lock... i had to reach in on it too

Yeah,

I remember the first early designs of the prolock would have made it really hard to get at the iris, but it was cut back to make things easier to access.

You would find the same on the ALLSTAR because the locking mechanism sticks out.

I have the underdahl mount installed now, fast ans easy. It uses quite a cheap third party Nikon mount, but it seems to be the least of all evils.

I use only manual glass, no G lenses.

When the EPIC comes there will be a Nikon option so that will be nice.

If you don't need an electronic mount and want to keep your warranty while having the option to use a variety of lenses with different mounts, this is imho the best, most solid mount out there (and I've tried pretty much all the legal ones).

Hi,Martin Weiss
Thanks for your support, I`m not sure A-mount is the best mount, but I sure it is a solid, easy to swap different lenses, and I sell them in a very low price in such quality.:glare:

Actually Sanjin, Vista Vision was first about 40 years ago...
And IMS is almost exact copy of it....NO iris control for G lenses....
My Prolock system locks the lenses differently than both. It's a lot more gentle on the lens mount, there is no metal to metal grinding, it causes less wear than even the original Nikon F mount on Nikon cameras.
I never merely copy other designs- I improve upon them, even if it takes a completely new approach like in this case...

A-mount locks every kinds of lenses very very soild, not just Nikon. And the design of A-mount isn`t as same as IMS. In fact, this is a more difficult design. still camera lenses were mounted on A-mount by adapters, and the adapters dosen`t like cheap photography adapters, completely different designs. And I am limited in order to get RED`s warraty.
Iris ring is on Allstar G lenses adapter like a native iris ring, adjust iris on lenses, not on the mount.
I`m a photographer, not a product designer, I make those products for just 2 years, but I know what we need, because I need them in my job too.
