Hello everyone, it`s time to show you my newest product- Allstar ARRI BASE
This is a prototype in the picture, but you still can preview the design.

The raw materials is 7075 aluminum comes from Switzerland. The deep brown parts have been done hard anodizing for surface treatment. They are hard enough for fricative work over 20 years.

Because the base was constituted by two parts, it will very easy to match Epic or Scarlet

The top dovetail could be separated out of base to mount Allstar shoulder pad. That you`ll get the lowest and lightest weight when doing HH shot.

I`ll take the base with me to the production that will shot in Japan, Germany and Italy during 4/17~28. Then it will be available on May.

Beacuse of the raw materials were solid enough, even you could mount handles to HH.
This is not casting product like RED arri base and bottom plate, this base was made by CNC with complete 7075 aluminum. The aluminum for casting was soft and got bubbles and impurities inside the product, but casting can get lower cost and easy to mass production.
There is no problem to mount the RED Cradle to the back of the camera, but you can`t do that when mounting Allstar shoulder pad.

Wow, I just emailed you about the sliding baseplate and now you have made this! Looks good!

I can't remember, did you offer a matching slide base to fit this?

Also I just noticed you will visit Japan in the next couple of weeks! Can you PM or email me, I'd love to see this in person on our Red cameras. Maybe we can do a reduser review for you?

Looking forward to the price too....

Cheers,

Paul

Hi, guys
I know you are interested in the price, but I haven`t knew the producing cost yet. I guess the producing cost will be very high by this manufacturing mode. but I`ll still try to give $600-700 for the first 15 units to get user`s feedback.
The Base could work on other ARRI dovetail or HH rigs.

I had the pleasure of meeting Tom (Allstar) tonight and seeing this new system first hand.

The system, although a prototype, worked extremely well and I have no hesitation in saying it is leaps and bounds ahead of the original Red dovetail slide base (which was by no means bad).

I'll definitely be buying the system once it is out of prototype development and testing!

The shoulder mount and this new dovetail system mate together perfectly and feel extremely comfortable and stable on the shoulder. The centre of gravity is kept as low as possible with the result that the whole system sits nicely on your shoulder and allows you to almost go hands free, providing you balance the rig appropriately!

The grip system is well done also and the repurposed bicycle grips are much more comfortable than Red's handgrips. Provision is made to mount any accessories using the 1/4" or 3/16" threads peppered throughout the handlebars. I can see myself mounting the ViewFactor Impero to one of the bars and thumb controlling focus and start/stop that way....

The LCD can also be mounted the same way so you have it nicely positioned in front of you.

As for the new Arri compatible baseplate system, it has an ingenious two part system that will allow for future upgradeability to Scarlet and Epic systems by means of changing just the top portion of the two part plate.

The shoulder pad doesn't have a lock but as Tom pointed out, unlike ET's Mantis the grips for this system attach to the camera's rods so you are holding the main moment arm attached to the camera itself, not a separate shoulder mount system. Smart thinking.

All in all, it was great to meet in person and see some of the ingenuity which has led to these products and more. Thanks for taking the time to show me your system Tom, I can't wait to see the final product in my hands!
