Because the last thread has been there for such a long time, many informations there are not arranged.
Therefore I start a new introduce for A-mount.

A-mount system is an universal mount system. It can be used on many different cameras and different lenses, without back focus issue. It is made of thick stainless steel, and is very strong and accurate. Allstar A-mount system introduction video: https://vimeo.com/37060165

Now we have two different forms of A-mount:
1. Allstar mount for REDONE. [item code: AM-r] price:$350

This kind of A-mount is ONLY for REDONE camera. A-mount is approved by RED, and it won't affect RED's warranty.
After you install A-mount, you can use many different of lenses through types of Allstar lens adapters.
You can swap different types of lenses very quickly and solid. Do not need any tool or adjust.
Here is the instruction of installation: http://allstar-cine.myweb.hinet.net/image/red_accessories_pic/A mount.pdf

2. Allstar Universal Mount [item code: AM-un] price:$320

Now we introduce Allstar lens adapter:
There are 2 kinds: cine lens adapter and still camera lens adapter.
Cine lens adapter are required to mount on A-mount first and then put on lens, so you just need one adapter for your lens set.
Still camera lens adapter are required to mount on lens.
You can use one adapter and change between lenses, but if you have each adapter for each lens that would have best efficiency.

Cine lens adapter :
PL-adapter [item code: PL-a] $290 USD
OCT19-adapter [item code: OCT-a] $310 USD
BNCR-adapter [item code: BNCR-a] $310 USD

Hasselblad to PL adapter item code: Ha-PL $360 USD

Mount base and adapters are continuing adding new types.

We use the A-Mount with PL lenses like the RPZ 18-85, Nikon cine-modified primes using the Nikon F adapters, and now Contax primes using the Contax C/Y adapters. It is a fantastic system that allows us to easily switch between different lenses and mounts in a matter of seconds. Highly recommend the A-Mount! Here are some pix of the A-Mount system in use on our R1MX: http://www.reduser.net/forum/showthread.php?81756-The-Allstar-A-Mount-Rocks!

Definitely A+

I use my A mount and I'm extremely happy with it. Works like a charm, and allows me to go from my RED zooms to my Rokinon primes without having to unscrew an change mounts. Genius...

This system is ABSOLUTELY awesome! I have a video review coming! Stand by! I hope to have it finished this weekend!

Is this system robust enough to use with heavy lenses such as the RPP 18 mm? I'd love to be able to switch seamlessly between my Nikon-mount Zeiss ZFs and a few PLs...

Cool! So for about $800 I can get the base plate, universal mount and a PL adapter... versus $2k for RED PL mount? Even setting aside the ability to use Nikon glass that is an interesting proposition.

Why are not more people using this?

I believe you need to purchase three items to work on your Epic/Scarlet. I'm currently using this setup with PL and Contax lenses.

Allstar Universal Mount [item code: AM-un] price:$320
DSMC Mount Base [ item code: AM-EP-b] $180 USD
PL-adapter [item code: PL-a] $290 USD

which brings the total price to: $790

Still a great deal in my opinion...highly recommend it if you are looking to use lenses with different mounts that are supported by this system.

Got it. Still a great deal. I'm wondering whether the rental market would accept this as a proper PL mount?

I'm using the A-mount and PL adapter with a RPZ 18-85 and a Canon 150-600 (both are roughly 10lbs) with no problems. I'm using rail support, but I wouldn't hesitate to use it unsupported with any cine primes that aren't monster telephotos.

That's great to hear!

What about flange distance and infinity focus etc... any issues there?

The only lens I have with trustworthy witness marks is the RPZ 18-85 (and that's open to debate amongst some), and it focuses properly to infinity at the infinity mark. I pretty much only do that when shooting landscapes and have the lens stopped down pretty far, so you may want testimony from someone who's put it through more rigorous testing.

Are there any Medium Format lens adapters for the A-Mount?

They made a Hasselblad to PL mount adapter, Elsie.

That sounds like a workable solution.

Somebody could make a lot of sales, methinks, if they made adapters for all the Medium Format lenses to PL. Even for use on 6k, using just the central part of the lens should make good pictures.
