Hi,

I need some help about the Allstar A-mount for RED ONE, I still don't figure what do I have to buy, I want to use nikon glass and some PL glass, so its suppose to buy the Allstar A-mount for RED ONE (http://allstar-cine.myweb.hinet.net/html/red_accessories/A_Mr.htm), the PL adaptar and nikon F adapter (http://allstar-cine.myweb.hinet.net/html/red_accessories/A_M_adapter.htm), correct?
That is correct, Humberto. You may want to get one Nikon F adapter for each of your Nikon lenses, but you can easily move 1 adapter from lens to lens if your budget limits you to only one Nikon adapter (takes about a minute to move it). Hope that helps...

Thanks Tom,

Any place in Europe for me to buy the adapters, if I buy then in USA, will have to pay more than 23% taxes when it arrives custom...

I think at this point, you can only buy them direct from Allstar, and they are located in Taiwan...not sure what that means to buyers like you who are in Europe.

Does anyone knows if the allstar nikon mount can use nikon lens without the aperture ring/iris control?

You need to use the Nikon G Mount (G-a) from Allstar, not the F Mount (F-a). It has an additional iris adjustment ring which will allow you to manually adjust aperture. However, you will have to pre-mark your lens apertures, using another lens and camera with electronic control of iris as a reference, as described in this video: https://vimeo.com/28721229

Tom, Can you please tell me if I can use a nikon G mount on a F mount lens, or I have to buy both for use in each lens?

I'm not sure I understand your question, Humberto? If you are asking if you can use an Allstar G-mount adapter on a Nikon F-mount lens, I don't think that the G mount (G-a) adapter will work on F mount lenses. The F mount adapter (F-a) is much smaller and simpler.

Hi Tom,
Thanks for your answer, but G-a can be used on F mount lens, just need to take off the sickle ring. Of course, F-a is much easy to assemble.

Ahhh...thanks very much Tom for the clarification...sorry to give you a wrong answer, Humberto! I guess I have some more studying to do, lol...
