  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

All these Epic productions, anyone need an Epic?

We now have a giant list of productions saying they are going Epic very soon. Do us early Red loyalists get the opportunity to rent our Epics to these productions or is there really that many Epics being made above and before the idea of 'by serial #' starts up?

My Epic will be available for rental from day 1, which according to Jim is February since I am in the first batch. If any of these productions will be renting Epics from early reservation holders, please contact me to negotiate a feature rental, or long term (months) rental.

In case any apologists want to ding me about renting my camera out immediately...I'm aiming for summer for my first feature, so renting my Epic for the first few months will work well for me, then I'll be in a good place in late summer to kick some ass with Epic #27.

Shawn,

I did not know you also read minds? I have asked to myself the very same question...:001_huh:

Maybe there is a Tatoo 2 batch that we (the "loyalists", even separated by 711 - 27) are not aware of...:out:

Shawn, I thought you were getting an M? Why are you mentioning February? Is there some significance to February? With a low number like yours, you should be able to find a partner and go for an M, I would think.

Then again, all of us who are in for Ms will need to make a decision at some point, based on when we would actually receive the M vs waiting for the Stage 2. If it's 2 months in advance, it would be worth it. If it's 3 weeks in advance, not so much.

First Epic-M went out and other Epic-M's will continue to go out form first week of January,
Epic-X stage II's will go in to Production in February, so we assume that deliveries will also be in
February in small quantities, and then grow from there with a serious ramping in production in
April as Jim said, so for early reserves there might not be more then a month's time form
receiving a possible Epic-M to the Stage II Epic-X.

I keep hearing people talking about how they are "in for" an m or getting an m or in the extreme, " getting four of the first ten." Last time i checked, the epic m was a "at red's discretion" award. You could express intent, red would acknowledge, but it was entirely up to red as to who and how many.

What we've been told is that M cameras will be allocated in order of customer number. Jim will make exceptions if and as he sees fit. Early estimate was probably less than 100 cameras but that was awhile ago. Until we get an update from Red, that's all we have to go on. As far as I know, nobody has been guaranteed an M. If anyone is saying they're "in for" an M, I assume that it means that they've raised their hand and hope to get one.

i am not sure, but i suppose all of these big productions will get epic's directly from RED.
It is a big commitment from these productions, so it is a big commitment from RED to support these pictures.

just a hint. when deanan is on the spidey set, they probably wont have problems to get
EPICs too hehe

but i am sure these big productions wont effect the regular epic production, i guess instead they will speed it up.

i just wish that all the Epic-X stage owners will get them in summer and there is no delay.

Why not start production in large quantities now, so that 2000-3000 epics can be pumped out by march?
i admit i have no clue about logistics though :)

Well as long as my Epic X is ready by Sakura/Cherry season in Japan, I will be more than hapy. Heh.

I have a few questions:

1. What constitutes "small quantities" in Feburary? 10 to 15? 100 to 150?
2. Is Red still on that schedule? this may have been answered elsewhere.
3. When things "ramp up" by April, what does that mean? 50 a week? 200 a week?

My stage 2 reservation #is 683, I guessed that 50% of Red owners did stage 2 (total guess here) that puts me around 350 in line. Just trying to guess when my number might come up.

Lots of tough questions here, if anyone has some insight please chime in.

1. Who knows.
2. Who knows.

Tough answers to tough questions here ;)

But seriously, we are teetering on the edge here. It will be within months before they start trickling out, and I am assuming Red doesn't want to make any promises until they are 100% confident on dates, amounts etc.

As a rule of thumb, don't plan any shoots with your Epic until you have a Fedex shipping number :)
