  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Hi !

I have now a proper working cam it seems... but exports of the rocket showing sill aliasing.... I will post Tiffs and RAWs later because I cant upload at the moment.... turning off the rocket in RCX351 is solving the problem....
Have to try if any settings like Nick said affecting it also without the rocket...

till later...

Rainer,

I also find it is cleaner with Redcolor 2 and redgamma2.

David

Thx David... will give this a try too.... interesting that colorspace and gammut can have influence on it....

Image sequence export for finishing seems to me at the moment a no go via the rocket...

Thx btw to all for your input in this issue... reduser.net is a great place...

If you like send me a short R3D and I'll test with our RR – just to make sure there's no problem with yours.

Interesting...

Have you tried to re install older/non-beta firmware on the Rocket.

yes, I know you lose redcolor2/redgamma2, but you should still have redlogFilm...

Gunleik thats at the moment not easy to do a rollback but I will give that a try too...

so... I'm because of shooting not that fast here as I want, but see below a comparison render on a tiff with and without the rocket... you need to look 1:1 and you can clearly see aliasing in the rocket render....

http://dcs.co.at/pics/A150_C014_1207TR.0000100.tif
with rocket

http://dcs.co.at/pics/A150_C014_1207TR.0000101.tif
without rocket

will try now different gammuts and after that the last rocketfirmware and rcx.
quicktime exports should be verified as well.....

so changing gammut and or color space affects not the result on the render from the rocket... aliasing is still there and visible... RCX351

Hi Rainer.
Doesnt look like aliasing to me, it's more like jitter/moiré:

alias.jpg

It really looks like a demosaic problem....
It's quite obvious in the horizontal window dividers, but it's also very visible on the wall. Not smooth graduations but patterned noise.

I noticed the frames are not the exact same one. Are you sure it's not a temporal issue?

Hi Rainer,

Can you shoot me an email (rob at red dot com) so we can take a look at this clip?

Which Rocket driver & firmware are you running?

Thanks!
