I bought Red Rocket X Card from the guy who live in L.A. (phone number was Maryland, USA)
I sent 4000 USD by PAYPAL and never received the card
I was quite busy for a month so I almost forgot to contact the guy

I have phone number but he never answer ( it rings ) and no mail too.
he had gmail address uses thinkdreamproductions.com the site was online but now it is disappeared

I tried to stop paypal transaction but
THE TRANSACTION WAS NOT FOR GOODS so there is nothing PAYPAL can do
I should receive the invoice by paypal

anyway I will do all I can with this scam

Oh no!!! 4000 usd :/ So sorry, This is just crazy! I really hope everything works out for you!

That's a shame, but it reminds me and everyone else that when you're buying through PayPal you should never send the money as a gift. Always ask for a PayPal invoice to be sent to you by the seller as well as an additional PDF invoice sent to your email.

I was scammed through PayPal once and the fact that I paid for goods with invoice helped me to get my money back.

Really sorry to hear that. I was the victim of a scam some years ago. The deal looked genuine and the seller understood my worries of paying in advance. He suggested
FedEx as an Escrow service. I got an invoice per email what appears to be a FedEx invoice and i paid for a Red One to a bank account in London. Off course....no camera and
later i found out FedEx does not even have such service. The bank in London said the could not be of any help. As there are lots of scammers around regarding Red stuff i advise to do what i did the 2nd time. I asked the seller to arrange a Skype video chat so he could show that he had al equipment he offered (scammers do not hire or loan equipment for such, to much hassle) Then i arranged a flight and meeting with the seller in his own country, saw and checked all the stuff at the Airport, paid in cash and flew back home. Its worth the investment in air tickets. Im looking for a Scarlet now and will do exactly the same and will never pay anything in advance. I learned this the hard way.

Good to know about PayPal not covering you if you use the Send money feature vs purchasing goods/service. I always used the Send money because it was quick and easy.

I've dodged a few scammers around here and I suggest everybody validate through social media messaging and make sure the person has actual interactions with people on the social media accounts that give credibility.

digging..

If the phone number worked at any time -> you should be able to trace him.

If PayPal were part of the transaction - they should be able to help with an investigation into Fraud as to where they sent the funds.

You might be able to contact the bank involved and advise that the monies were taken deceptively in a deliberate fraud.

If the IP address is recorded .... you might even be able to locate the persons position at that point.

Best of luck.

This is exactly what I do, whether I'm selling or buying -- with Skype you'll not only see the equipment but also "meet" the person.
