what kind of bench marking stats would you like to see for the video? 4k dpx render times? prores? what else?

Would be great to see render times for ProRes 422 1920x1080 from Helium 8k HD 6:1 footage (if you have any available). Also interested in doing the same test with Dragon 6K HD 5:1 footage.

I'm working on a benchmarking/demo video for release by NAB. I'm testing a GTX1080, GTX 1080 Ti, and Red Rocket-X. They will be tested on a MacBook Pro, PC Laptop, and mini-itx PC.

If anyone in the LA area has a new MacBook pro or high end pc laptop that I can borrow/rent for a day for the test I'd really appreciate it. I can also come by your place and knock out the test there if thats easier.

They've told me they have gotten the 1080 to work, not sure if the Ti will but I'll find out soon.

More good news on the pascal front for macs, looks like Nvidia has drivers coming out this month. So hopefully that will mean macs won't need a workaround for the eGPU to work. I will be testing the NODE with the current system here before NAB.

Honestly, it's not a good group buy deal. B&H will be selling them for $269 https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/prod...t3ia_aktu_thunderbolt3_external_pcie_box.html, no tax outside of NY, and free shipping. If you live in CA and go with the group buy, by the time you pay taxes and shipping it's more expensive than B&H. Even if you don't have to pay tax, the price will be close to the same if not more after shipping, and you have to deal with buying through the group buy. It's cheaper and easier just to order from B&H.

Chad, if you want to bring it to NAB, I will bring my MSI laptop. The laptop has the quadro pascal P5000, but I want to drive the new Dell 7680x4320p60 display, which needs dual DP output. I spent the money on this laptop for the GPU and now I am looking at an external one because I want 8K. haha

Someone posted about the B&H price. B&H is out of stock until at least 4/25.

I got a maxed out touch bar MacBook Pro here in Hollywood if u want to test it out no prob. Also a couple of P6000's or an RRX to try with a box or 2 if the pascal drivers for OS X are out soon enough.

Chad, please do post your results with this. If possible, with Final Cut Pro X on Imac TB2 or a new MacBook Pro Touch TB3. Would be great to see if this card can work on a TB2 enclosure or If the TB3 enclosure works not only on the MacBook Pro but on TB2 Machines as well, and if it brings any gains!

on macs currently it'll only work with the new touch bar macbook pro over TB3. Nvidia has said they have mac drivers coming this month but I couldn't really find any detailed specifics on it anywhere, so we will see the compatibility with older macs when its released.
