Akitio Node + Original Red Rocket + Macbook Pro TB 2017

Haven't seen a thread with this combo, but does anybody have this working?

I seem to have upgraded the Node firmware using Bootcamp but any time I boot it up with the Red Rocket loaded in (both in High Sierra and Windows 10), the whole machine just freezes and I need to do a hard reset.

Specs:

Red Rocket (original; red version)
MBP 2017 15" w/ RX560
Akitio Node using a Belkin TB3 cable

Not sure why it wouldn’t work, but I would recommend tossing the Rocket in favor of a current GPU. The original Rocket is obsolete and slow at this point.

Thanks for the insight Jeff. Just curious to see if there is an order of operation for those using an eGPU enclosure w/ a Rocket or RR-X.
It has been suggested to me that I may need to boot up in Single User Mode first.

I verified that the Node works when I installed my older GTX 670 in it, but it would be great to get a Rocket working since it still crushes through my Epic footage nicely.
