Im running HDSDI into my AJA, then an HDMI-DVI cable out into a computer monitor..however the screen will flash on... then off for a long time.. then on again for a second. So I understand this is a frame rate/refresh issue?

What do I need to look for in a computer monitor to make this useable?

If i recall correctly, there's a force mode behind the switch of the AJA HDMI, you might need to check that out.

BUT Rudy from AJA recommend strongly if you want to use DVI, you should buy the AJA-DVI instead of AJA-HDMI (DVI on the other end). Why dont you use HDMI port from RED instead ?

well speaking for myself.. I want to use HDSDI because bnc is 1000 times cheaper than hdmi.. plus it locks itself onto the connector..

aja-dvi and aja-hdmi send the same signal source...

I got my hdmi because origionally i was going into a flat screen tv.. now I want to go into a PC monitor.

yeah jumpers i mean not switch. If that doesnt work for you, then it wont. You should get AJA-DVI instead. Mine work without problem..

Rudy said AJA-HDMI is really design to work only with HDMI monitor not DVI, so i think if you want to use PC monitor, try to get a monitor that is HDMI ready monitor, "maybe" that will work for you.

I actually had the EXACT same problems you are discussing. Drove the director nuts on set. I was given a replacement Hi5 from AJA and had the same issue. They gave me an AJA-DVI and I used a DVI to HDMI cable and that works perfectly. Something is up with the Hi-5 unfortunately...
