Well, I haver to admit, I'm very intrigued. AJA has released drivers that work with Red footage, a plugin that supports their hardware in AE, Premiere, PS and now of course Adobe is getting ready to ship CS4. I'm open to trying it, as I have a Kona 3 and After Effects already. I'm not looking to give up FCP, but I would like a consistent workflow with After Effects. To me, renders out of After Effects have always seemed cleaner than I can achieve with FCP or Color for that matter. I still have gamma issues sometimes, but overall, the images just look better coming out of that render engine.

What do you guys think of this combo?

All I'm gonna say right now is the first time I dragged a DPX sequence into the Premiere timeline and played it out the KONA 3 - I smiled from ear to ear.

No Quicktime, no Glue Tools, no nothin - just DPX frames.

Drag in a new VFX shot (DPX frames) - drop it over the old shot in the timeline and PLAY -

Realtime 2k DPX? In Shake too? The Kona 3 is their top of the line card? I remember another card that could go in both a PC and Mac at NAB. Can't remember the name. Are there alternative cards I should consider? I'm interested in having something for my PC as well. thanks.
