  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

AI or AIS?

I concur- the 28 2.8 ais is flawless. Although i am considering getting the 28 f2 ai just to match the rest of my ai glass, which as someone mentioned earlier seems to be a touch warmer.
Ulf, regarding the 35mm, would you say the 1.4 is better at f2 than the 35 f wide open? I'm trying to decide between the two, as its such an important focal length im more or less decided to go for the 1.4 even if the difference is marginal.

Andy, you won´t regret picking up the 35 1.4 although I´d still try to stop it down to at least 2.8. I don´t know which Nikon mount you are using, the 35 f1.4 has a large rear element and won´t fit into the RED Nikon mount without modification of a rear pin. (the photo attached is a 55 but it is very similar).

Cheers, Ulf

yuck... thanks for the heads up. I have just the pl on my red at the moment, still deciding which mount to go for beyond that- will probably go for the allstar mount with adapters, so will be looking to use it with the adapters for red one and canon dslr's. should be ok tho right?
You recon the 1.4 is a tad sharper at f2 and 2.8 than the 35 f2?

Ulf mentioned that the Nikkor Ai 35mm F2 has ghosting and has mentioned that the 1.4 would be better even though it is unusable wide open. How bad is the F2 compared to 1.4 at f2.8 or f4?
