  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Hi Jon - thanks a lot for your feedback. I'm sure everyone appreciates it a lot.

I'm interested in the payment for the prime set - will you be able to elaborate on that. I know I'd have to pay a $2k deposit for the set upon ordering it, but will I need to pay for each lens as they ship or in full for the whole set when the first one ships? The reason I'm asking is that I'm currently looking into different lens options, but the RED path seems to be worth the wait. Any idea if I'd be able to hold any of the RED primes in my hands this year if I haven't pre-ordered any of them yet?

Well, quoting the RED mantra....
"Everything in life changes... including our camera specs and delivery dates..."

I just came back from a meeting that puts the subject back on hold. The latest plan was a one by one release. That plan is now on hold and there is no official role out schedule. That means that they may release as a set or one by one. The role of Straight Shooter is to say it like it is. Right now, the only thing I can say with certainty is that it is RED's plan to get these lenses out by year's end. I'll keep you posted on my sticky as info becomes more reliable. Sorry for the misinformation. Things change quickly around here :umm:
 
I have absolutely no problem with the plan to release the whole set at once instead of releasing the lenses one by one. I just wanted to know :)

We ordered the set of RED primes for RED #1888... how does payment go for the primes? Do we pay when they are ready to ship? Basically wondering if we will be billed next week for the RED primes too.

Full payment won't be necessary until the lens (lenses) is (are) ready to ship.

Is that the general policy of everything that is not ready to ship? We also had ordered the 7" LCD and the EVF... will we be billed for those next week?
 
i think it was already said.
they want to have the complete batch ready to ship, and then its christmas for this 250. and the asked for some more sleep after the catching up program.

so i would say it goes more to a realistic mid june delivery.

Your call - you can choose to pay all up front and it will ship when ready or choose to pay after you have been notified a backordered product is ready.
