Hey guys. I've been meaning to post this for a while. Here are a couple of things I did to make my Epic a little more user friendly:

1. Top Rods with Swat Rail - Red sells a DSMC Top mount for $350 that gives you 19mm top rods and a swat rail for the sliding top handle. I just took one of the 19mm universal mounts off of my DSMC quick release platform pack and put it upside down on top of the camera. I then took the swat rail that came with my sliding top handle and sawed it in half to fit between the 19mm rods. I had to drill out a couple of the threaded holes in the universal mount so the bolts could pass through the swat rail and the universal mount, but it is solid and looks great after a quick spray of black paint.

2. 19mm Cross Bar - Next I took a 12" rod and sawed it in half to have two 6" rods on top of the camera. I then purchased 2 90 degree Rod Clamps from coollcd.com for $17 each (http://www.coollcd.com/90-degree-rod-clamp-for-19mm-rods_p850.html)

They take a while to ship from China, but they are extremely strong and well-built, much more solid than Red's 19mm clamps with the fragile wing nuts.

I then sawed an 18" rod in half to have a 9" cross bar for mounting accessories.

4. Side Grip - Lastly, I added a Red Handle to the 9" cross bar, giving me a left hand grip that can be slid forward or back depending on the size of my lens. Sometimes I even mount it on one of the 6" top rods, which allows me to roll the lens focus gear with my left thumb.

I like your resourcefulness of using the rails for multiple solutions.

Thanks for sharing Juilo.
