I thought I would share my new aerial demo reel with the community here. It wasn't shot exclusively on Red, but, I bet you can guess which parts were. A

A special thanks to the crew over at Silverado- class act!

Gorgeous!

And if anyone needs aerials... I have provided a few pieces of kit to John and he is an excellent guy to work with. Very amiable, professional and obviously knows aircraft and how to make them look their best in the air or on the ground.

These are AWESOME!! Very nice work!

Oh my god! Beautiful work!

You KNOW your job!

Feel an urge to watch "Requiem for a Dream" again...

Hi John,

That was magnificent!

If it's not giving away any of your own personal "trade secrets", could I ask you how you keep your shots so steady? What kind of mounts are you using or is a lot of it hand-held? Do you do any "stabilisation" in post at all? Or are we talking very advanced type techniques such as gyro stabilised mounts?

Thanks, J.

Love the reel. Lots of beautiful shots in there.

Julian,

There are generally a lot of factors I consider. I can say that there is no post-stabilization, as I feel it needs to be shot right to start with. Slome of the sequences were gyro stabilized, but all the Red footage is not, and it's not hand-held either. Finding the right platform is crucial. Airplanes are smoother than choppers, turboprops are smoother than piston driven aircraft, and jets are as smoothly operating as you can get. if you have a project and need some advice, send me an e-mail, I'd be happy to help you out.

Jp
