Hi I have a Raven on order and want to rig it so that I can easily use it hand held. I am short so I need it to go on my shoulder.
I have CP.2 lenses and like to use a clamp on matt box with a manual follow focus rigged on the left hand side.
At the moment I am thinking there are two options (that I am aware of) that both seem good.
One is using an Arri Dove tail plate, like wooden camera, that allows to go from tripod to a hand held rig with the dove tail plate as the main support.
The other, like Zacauto, allow you to go onto a tripod using a VCT quick mount broadcast style quick release.
What do you people recommend?
Is there one system that is more commonly used?
VCT quick release or Arri Dove Tail plate quick release?

In terms of positioning the 4.7" screen to the left hand side of the body.
I was thinking, initially at least, of having the 4.7" screen with a sun shade on the left and forward of the body to allow easy balance of the camera.
Do people find that workable?
If so what do you recommend as a rig to allow that?
Or am I much better off to get a EVF (I have a Zacauto earlier HDMI model EVF with Z finder).
Thanks for your advice.
cheers Richard

After having tried lots and lots of options, I have settled on a rig like this.

I put a RBQ which matches my tripod plate on the hand held rig and then it goes from tripod to hand held lickety split. I find a monitor impractical for hand held as it's hard to get it far enough away from your face to focus on. I always use an EVF. That particular rig isn't made anymore I don't think, but you can find it or similar used.

this
i have all wooden camera, i used the pogo to pogo cable, then a nato kit, and a magic arm, i rig the monitor upside down, coming from the top of the camera and flip the display in the menu.
Thanks Jordan
I had not thought of having the RED 4.7" upside down - good idea!

yeah, its out of the way from your arms and hands too that way, so you grab focus or iris, plus not a bunch of stuff in your face.

check out http://www.smallrig.com/
you can get a complete handheld/shoulder rig setup with rosette arms for around $500 USD.
super affordable and solid quality.

this is what i have setup for my a7s. you can do something similiar (probably with this http://www.smallrig.com/SMALLRIG-Multipurpose-U-Base-1674.html),
just email them and they'll help you figure out how to rig it up.

i did hear that they were making a cage for the raven as well....
Thanks Howard
A company that I can keep an eye out for, especially if they end up making DSMC2 specific accessories.
At this stage, as far as I have seen, Wooden Camera seem to have the best DSMC2 specific kit?

Hi Does anyone have info about Movcam's modules?
At NAB news shooter showed some pretty tidy modules.
I have never used Movcam - does anyone have experience with their products?
