We're planning a shoot comprising a sequences of shots of a young girl (5 y.o.) chasing a butterfly through a grassy field and around some trees.
We are planning long lens shots with a shallow depth of field and subtle camera movement and drifts of focus.
At this stage it seems our best option is to shoot the scenes and then have an animated butterfly laid into the edit. The animation will be produced by another supplier, who we hope to sit down with soon for planning the shoot.
We've never taken on a challenge like this and it would be great to hear any advice on combining these elements.
In particular I'm wondering what we can do to
(1) help provide good directions to the talent for believable repeatable action
and
(2) provide the easiest materials for the animator to use
Wondering if we should provide something like a ball on a wire (hanging from a long pole) to act as the butterfly.
Any tips or anyone done something similar to this???
Thanks in advance.
