I am currently getting a 2012 MACPRO Tower Built. The company has indicated that the GTX 980 TI has failed under heavy workloads. Any advice would greatly be appreciated. See the below specs.

12-Core Mac Pro 5,1
2 x 3.06GHz Xeon Processors
64GB (8x8GB) DDR3 memory (add $160 for a 4 x 16GB configuration)
Two Samsung 850 EVO 500GB SSD in Raid 0 configration
Two WD Black 1TB hard drives in normal configuration
NVidia GTX 980Ti 6GB Graphics Card
SuperDrive
Wi-Fi + Bluetooth
OSX 10.10 Yosemite (installed on SSD Raid Array)

I am running a similar system with a nVidia GTX 980 4GB in slot#1 and a RR-X in #2 with no aux PSU and it's solid.

FWIW, you can have them put in an auxillary PSU in the second 5.25" bay to feed power to the GPU in case that's the issue. The towers exhaust heat pretty well, but if GPUs are frying under heavy load then you might explore more cooling...

Let us know how it turns out, those of us still riding the old Mac towers are always looking for the beefiest GPUs the rig can handle.

Cheers - #19
